Kelsey Dipman
Assistant Coach

After struggling with her weight all of her life Kelsey started running. After running had taken her to a plateau in her weight loss, she was introduced to CrossFit by friends in July of 2010. After her first WOD Kelsey was hooked because there is something about looking a WOD in the face, being terrified, and then doing more than you every thought you could. Kelsey wanted to coach because she wanted to help people with the same battle with weight that she has fought. Kelsey’s favorite thing about CrossFit is that for the first time in her life she is an athlete, she loves competing against herself, but most of all loves seeing someone do something they didn’t think was in them. Kelsey is CrossFit level 1 certified and Crossfit Endurance Certified. When not training Kelsey enjoys cooking different Paleo meals, and also baking not so paleo cakes.

John started crossfitting in November of 2010 at the old CrossFit Chicago West Loop. Prior to starting CrossFit, John was involved in rock climbing and cycling and played recreational and competitive paintball. John became involved in the CrossFit Construct community early on and pursued his CrossFit Level-1 Trainer certification soon after CrossFit Construct opened. When John isn’t training, he is constantly hurting himself playing real sports, like hockey, paintball, and snow football.

O’Brien McMahon
Assistant Coach
Working at an office job in Chicago, O’Brien began to sense the human body was meant for more than the sedentary lifestyles he saw all around him. “Be strong in the real world” became the mantra and ultimately led him to discover CrossFit. O’Brien realized immediately that CrossFit was exactly what he was looking for. It took real world “functional” strength and combined it with the team and competition aspects he had been missing since his high school hockey and lacrosse days. Eager to learn all he could and help others, O’Brien got his Level-1 Trainer certification mid-2011 and through that was introduced to CrossFit Construct. His favorite thing about training is helping people experience the joy and confidence that comes with accomplishing something you thought impossible only moments before.
